The client requested a black, red, and white color scheme and Multiple Listing Service (MLS) functionality on the homepage. The MLS service is only available from a third-party vendor’s external site. The MLS listings are called from jquery to make them available as streamlined inline frames, and will load in a new window if the script is blocked.

Jason Letts, author of the Powerless series, saught a single destination for all self-publishing design/production needs. His first two books Powerless: The Synthesis and Powerless: The Shadowing have been published in eBook form. The Synthesis is also available as a soft-cover book. EBooks were created as .pdf, .ePUB, and .mobi formats. The cover illustrations were done by an independant artist, while formatting and text for the covers were done in-house. The website is standard XHTML/CSS with the exception of a third-party Flash-based effect requested by the author.

The UUP Bullhorn, New Paltz branch.

The Bullhorn is a seasonal publication of the New Paltz Branch of United University Professions union. The design requires more than just aesthetic decisions, as there is cureently no editor. New content is managed in InDesign, with supplementary material managed in Acrobat Pro.

My duties at IMS require an multimedia jack-of-all trades. Support for classroom technology and special events is primary function of my job, but beyond that is a plethora of other demands. I am a classroom equipment technician, videographer, sound engineer, designer, editor, programmer, student supervisor, teacher, and much more.

Voyage Hosting needed a new logo and logotype for their brand. The client chose Myriad Pro over other samples for their logotype. The logo is superficially iconic, but also symbolizes the freedom from larger beaurocratic corporations.

Casanova Frankenstein & the Disco Boys

Editing the stylesheet for a MySpace page can be a daunting task. Styles are nested inside other styles in one giant cascading mess. It's a bit like looking for a strand of hay in a needle stack. Fortunately, there are Firefox extensions like Firebug and CSS Viewer that make the process possible. These same tools are just as useful when styling “real” content management systems where the DOM and styles are assembled dynamically.

The Casanova Frankenstein MySpace page is questionably safe for work, so a screenshot is provided instead.

The New York Theatre Organ Society

I chose to include NYTOS as a time capsule for the portfolio. The site was developed over a half decade ago while I was still completing my bachelor’s degree. Web technology standards and I have both come a long way in that time, but everyone has to start somewhere.
